About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Senior Process Design Engineer to join our Liquified Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships that carry Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) across the globe. Current projects are mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world and we are also involved in numerous other projects and locations.

You'll be part of a large engineering team of Process, EC&I and Mechanical Piping Engineers who perform design activities associated with marine and onshore liquefied gas plants, ensuring safe and economical design while striving for continuous improvement

Day to day duties will include:

  • Develop PFD's, P&ID's etc with participation in design reviews, HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LoPA.
  • Calculations for line sizing, control valves, relief systems, process control and utility requirements.
  • Develop process heat/mass balance to size and select equipment.
  • Produce datasheets and specifications equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, control and safety relief valves.
  • Evaluation of vendor quotations for process equipment and machinery.
  • Technical communication with regulatory bodies, clients and vendors to resolve technical issues that arise.
  • Attending meetings with customers and provide a professional and quality design service including to Suppliers and site.
  • Produce technical documentation including formal submission of calculations, reports and operating manuals.

What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to have a Degree Chemical Engineering and have 6+ years' experience within a Process Design role.
Would also like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:
  • Working knowledge of Product and Process Safety systems HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LoPA.
  • Good working knowledge of HYSYS and Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with software packages such as Aspen Heat Exchanger, PPDS and AFT Fathom would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of API and manufacturer standards for sizing of relief valves would also be beneficial.

  • We are based at Rosyth, Scotland
  • Permanent position with a competitive annual salary and excellent benefits.
  • 37.5 hours per week; 7:30am to 15:45 Monday to Thursday and 7:30am to 14:30 on Friday.
