Job Details
The preparation and development of Control, Instrumentation and Electrical (CI&E) systems for the monitoring and control of process plant for our key markets including marine and offshore liquefied gas transportation/storage and onshore petrochemical. End-customers include major worldwide shipyards and oil majors.
Role Function
  • Performing/preparing Calculations, Data Sheets, Specifications, Schedules and Drawings as required and coordinating with other business departments to achieve the required project objectives and deliverables schedules. Including, but not restricted to the following:
  • Motors, pressure/temperature/level/flow etc instrumentation, gauge boards, junction boxes, control panels, starter panels, rotating machinery packages, cables/glands.
  • Schedules - Instrument, cable, power/utilities,
  • Drawings - Instrument and control panels, power/control/instrumentation schematics and wiring diagrams, hazardous/safe area plans.
  • Control system architecture, communication links with third party equipment.
  • Development of PLC & HMI software for cargo control systems.
  • Integration of the cargo control system with marine communication systems.
  • Efficient and effective reviewing, checking and approving of drawings, documents, schedules etc.
  • Evaluation of quotations and liaising with other disciplines, suppliers and third parties to ensure equipment and system technical correctness, optimum commercial benefit and integrity.
  • Engagement with regulatory bodies to ensure design compliance with recognised standards.
  • Efficient and timely review and clarification of Vendor drawings/documentation, project documentation and standards.
  • Visits to Clients, sites, suppliers and other locations as required including commissioning/testing activities, Factory Acceptance Tests, vendor/client technical discussions.
  • Lead and contribute to critical design reviews.
  • Supervision and mentoring of graduate Engineers.
  • Contribute to Product and Process Safety systems workshops (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LoPA)
  • Promote and maintain a culture of openness, honesty, commitment and continuous improvement.
  • Actively support the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and other policies and procedures.
  • Actively seek to anticipate and mitigate problems/difficulties.
  • Potential for role development into increased Warranty and Aftersales support where vessel visits would be required to troubleshoot equipment faults.  
    Experience Sought
     
  • CI&E experience in either a project engineering or design engineering role.
  • Design engineering experience in the layout of E+I control panels.
  • Proven track record on PLC & HMI programming.
  • Familiar with Siemens/Allen Bradley/GE IP (or equivalents) PLC hardware and software packages.
  • Knowledge of remote monitoring system protocol and development.
  • Experience in witnessing and managing the FAT and/or site commissioning of control systems.
  • Preferably process industry experience but would consider from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical and drinks or food industry.
  • Clear and confident communicator.
  • Fluency in the English language (verbal & written).
  • Able to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly motivated with an attention to detail
  • Ability to lead tasks and work to tight timescales
  • Being a good example to and supporting Graduates engineers
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Autocad
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills  
    Qualifications
     
  • Degree qualified or HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • 4+ years relevant experience
 
Security
Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.  This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.

Based at Rosyth Business Park on the Firth of Forth at Rosyth, which is 3 miles south of Dunfermline. Rosyth is less than 15 miles from Edinburgh. As the capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is a vibrant city with something for everyone. It's home to the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh Castle and famous festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe, Edinburgh International Festival and Hogmanay Street Party.
