HEMS Touring Pilot

An exciting opportunity to join Babcock Onshore, a leading provider of mission-critical helicopter services to the air ambulance, police and offshore sectors. We provide world-class operations to our customers helping them to save lives and protect communities every day.

Our fleet of 32 helicopters from bases across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland has been providing dedicated air ambulance support for more than 20 years and our police helicopters have been supporting UK communities for almost a decade. Scope of Duties/Responsibilities

We currently operate EC135 and EC145 aircraft in a variety of roles. The position as Touring Pilot offers varied and challenging flying across a range of disciplines including HEMS, Police, Helicopter Hoist Operations and NVIS operations. The successful candidate will be required to maintain the highest standards of professional expertise and safety throughout the conduct of this challenging role. The role enables an individual to live anywhere on mainland UK and will work a flexible roster to cover duties at different bases.

Person Specification

Minimum requirements for candidates for this position are:

  • Hold an EASA ATPL(H) or CPL(H) + IR
Experience required:

  • Either :
    • 1000 hours pilot in command of aircraft of which 500 hours is pilot in command on twin turbine helicopters; or
    • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS/Police operations of which 500 hours is as pilot in command under supervision and 100 hours pilot in command of twin turbine helicopters.
  • 2000 hours minimum total helicopter experience.
  • 500 hours operating experience in twin turbine helicopters in an operational environment similar to the intended operation.
  • 20 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
  • Fluent English, Driving License, Passport, Right to Work in the UK.

Candidates would also ideally:

  • Be qualified and instrument rated on both the EC135 and EC145.
  • Have current or recent HEMS experience.
  • Have experience of NVIS operations.
