Salary: Up to £39K plus 5% flexible benefit fund

Role overview

This massive IT Estate has a new requirement for an experienced Linux engineer to join the Linux team within the server team operational umbrella.  We are looking for a Linux Engineer with a Hunger to drive through technical improvement, learn, develop and see through positive change.  You should be diligent in your work, able to work unassisted but show the willingness to mentor others.  The diverse nature of this estate would suit someone with solid experience as a Linux Engineer, ideally in a Defence or MOD sector. The role will require DV clearance eventually and the willingness to complete this is a requirement.

Key responsibilities

Essential Experience:

• Good working knowledge of the Linux OS and associated stack
• Support the Linux centric projects and deliverables where required
• Support the Linux team leader on delivery meetings and reviews where required
• Maintain knowledge on technical subjects relevant to role
• Ensure change management is followed at all times
• Eligible for DV Clearance

Desirable skills

• ITIL understanding of fundamentals
• Previous exposure in or to an MoD environment
• Centos 7 exposure would be an advantage
• Certified in Linux systems administration
• DV Cleared
