LOCATION: Central London

DURATION: 12 Months Contract with the option for further contract renewals

DAILY RATE: £ Attractive (subject to your skills and experience meeting our role requirements)

CONDITION: This post requires postholders to be DV Cleared to fulfil this position

Role Profile

We are embarking on a major recruitment drive to recruit a highly experienced Technical Architect to join a large-scale programme based in Central London.

You will be required to gather and interpret requirements from the business and technical stakeholders, including the implementation of proof of concepts to aid this process.

You will be working with the DevOps teams and other senior architects to identify and design end to end architectural solutions, advising on and contributing to the implementation process.

We expect you to use your own experience, industry best practice and emerging trends, to initiate new ideas and conduct options analysis to recommend optimum solutions. You will need to maintain an awareness of the client's ongoing engineering work to be able to make informed recommendations on how best to meet individual business area needs.

Ensure appropriate assurance and compliance activities take place to support investment and risk decisions as well as support the lead/senior architects by contributing to technology roadmaps and future visions to help stakeholders understand where and how technology work benefits them.

Candidate Experience

We are keen to talk to Technical Architects who can understand users' requirements and translate them into solutions that meet broader business needs. Those with a proven track record of delivering systems that are robust, maintainable, secure, scalable and have good performance.

  • Recent and relevant experience in technical roles, preferably 3+ years' experience.
  • Must have, and maintain, technical currency to be able to advise customers on the latest technology choices.
  • Able to work with project managers to ensure successful delivery balancing cost, quality and scope to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Follow and engage in a fast, iterative development approach.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a broader development team, sharing ideas and experience wherever possible.
  • Produce appropriate design documentation as required by the senior architect.
  • Experience of Agile/DevOps engineering projects.

  • Able to evaluate and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Experience using engineering tools (e.g. bamboo, BitBucket, Confluence).
  • Experience in designing and building distributed systems.
  • Able to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to use appropriate media to support communications.
  • The following are desirable:

  • Experience using high level programming languages
  • Experience with PaaS deployments e.g. Docker, OpenShift, AWS ECS
  • Familiarity with Search technologies e.g. Elastic Search
  • Experience using both Linux and Windows operating systems
