Role Summary/Purpose:
    The Sr. Systems Engineer -Requirement, Architecture and Installation works consistently in practical and innovative ways towards defined goals. Responsible for work that is defined or less defined in scope, and expected to participate in work definition. You will utilize your expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals, and provide technical guidance to others supporting complexity projects and/or task.
Essential Responsibilities:
    This is a GME assignment located in Shanghai, ChinaAdditionally, as the Sr. Systems Engineer -Requirement, Architecture and Installation, Key responsibilities will include:
  • Participate in teams responsible for the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of system using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Recommend approaches to meet the technical and program requirements for the system
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments for the system
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems that related to the system
  • Develop system understanding and skills in line with defined aircraft requirements utilizing the capability building framework and resources provided
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data, like system requirements and specification, generated for the assigned tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Generate safety requirements and allocate to the system, subsystem and unit levels
  • Review safety analysis and assessments at the system, subsystem and unit levels
  • Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews for system
  • Be responsible for supporting the development of IMA system for Commercial aircraft, and for the definition of IMA system level requirements, hosted application interface definitions, architecture design, RDIU input / output, ARINC 664 network, and providing guidance to system and sub-system suppliers
  • Support the certification process for IMA system throughout the entire lifecycle of a development program
  • Decompose the difficult / complex work into easy / clear steps, then guide and coach the junior engineers to complete it
  • Please Note: Work Location listed is Grand Rapids, MI. However, this position may also be eligible at our Cheltenham, UK location. This will be for a GME assignment to be based in Shanghai, China
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with proven experience in engineering or other technical field) or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Proven experience developing aircraft or avionics products (Including Experience with and solid understanding of DO-297, ARP 4754A and ARP4761; Experience with safety analysis and assessment at the system level)
  • Proven IMA experience with ANRINC 664 Data Network function and Data Conversion function design (specifically on system level requirements authoring, host application development and interface definition) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

Desired Characteristics:
  • Thorough understanding of ARINC 653 & ARINC 664 standards, with good understanding of the AVIAGE Open IMA systems
  • Experience with safety analysis and assessment at the system level
  • Proven ability to develop teams and mentor others
  • Self-starter, be open and flexible to loose work scope and processes
  • Project scheduling experience
  • Six Sigma training
  • Ability to understand and implement customer and industry standards for IMA system
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment

  • Experience in aircraft level requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements management, systems integration, verification and certification
  • Capable of using modeling and simulation tools to model and validate complex systems solutions
  • Aircraft Systems engineering experience with a FAR Part 25 aircraft
  • Experience of using DOORS, Windchill, Dimensions
  • Both English and Chinese languages
