Do you have experience leading the technical success of project and product development and have a strong quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills? My client is a global leader in aeronautics, space and related services with a vacancy for a System Design Authority (SDA).
You will lead the technical success of the project and product development from concept to sales focusing on the customer needs and the achievement of technical excellence. You will focus your attention on technical success rather than personnel matters, project planning and man-management.

About the Role:
To ensure that Software/Hardware designs are adequate and meet the customer requirement.
To ensure that the requirements are fully captured, managed, analysed and understood.
To ensure that design reviews run in a quality manner and add value to the respective engineering process.
To ensure that the sub-systems functional behaviour is established within the performance analysis.
To ensure that the design and selected equipment and operational procedures satisfy the requirements and they represent the chosen solution concept.
To ensure that Verification and Qualification activities are conducted in a traceable manner (to the customer requirement).
To establish the design requirements and ensure that design output records accurately reflect the design basis.
To ensure design control and ultimate technical adequacy of the design solution.
To ensure that the design requirements and design records are fully identified and configured in line with business configuration management requirements and current best practice.
To lead design activities, for example those associated with design analysis and calculations.
To ensure that implementation teams understand the expected design outputs and basis for the design; provide guidance and advice as required.
Sign-off authority for system design documentation.
To work with Project / Product teams as necessary to ensure that the technical criteria for Design Certification are achieved.
You will have the following experience:
Experience in the management of engineering product / projects with team size up to 20 or more.
Background in Tactical Networks highly desirable; experience in related technologies such as Satellite Communications Networks / Systems, Signals, RF, High Speed Digital Technologies and Software development.
Able to make tough decisions, under pressure; namely be able to identify, characterize and evaluate a set of alternatives and select the most beneficial course of action and enforce these decisions.
Have strong quantitative, analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
Experience or knowledge of SysML or UML; Matlab, Simulink an advantage.
Familiarity with C, C++ and Java will be of benefit.
Familiarity with IP networking technologies and network management an advantage.
