GIS / JAVA Developer
LOCATION: The Hague, the Netherlands
CLIENT: NATO
DURATION: 1 year with possible extensions
SALARY: Negotiable daily rate
WORK HOURS: Monday to Friday, normal working hours
CLEARANCE: NATO Secret
STARTING DATE: February 2019
SCOPE OF WORK:
The NATO Information and Communication Agency (NCI Agency) located in The Hague, The Netherlands, is currently involved in the development of new capabilities for NATO as well as in the support of existing capabilities.
For the maintenance of a number of systems the Agency is looking for support of an experienced Java Developer.
TASKS
- Implement code changes to be addressed for the next maintenance release of the product.
- Develop (JUnit) tests for the existing code.
- Enhance the functionality of the existing capabilities of the development support tools for the product (e.g. simulator for data received by the system)
- Setup of a reference environment for the software product(s).
- Implement code changes for future (major) releases of the product.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Five years of working experience in the area of Information Technology, of which at least 3 years of relevant experience with Java development
- Relevant experience in working with geographic information systems (GIS) / map systems
- Experience with developing real-time or near real-time applications in Java
- Experience with developing Java web applications using the Spring framework for the backend
- Experience with building Java web applications using HTML 5, JavaScript and Angular for the front-end
- Experience with building Java client applications using Swing
- Understand the need for testing and has experience with unit testing (Junit) and integration testing in a continuous integration environment
- Experience with the modern development toolchains including Git, Mercurial, Jenkins, SonarQube and JIRA
- Experience with the Apache Maven build system
- Experience with processing of NATO messaging formats, including Link-16
- Proactive and not afraid to ask questions
- Customer focussed attitude, sets high standards for quality and quantity; monitors and maintains quality and productivity; works in a systematic, methodical and orderly way
- Speak and write fluent English since the work is conducted in English
- NATO SECRET security clearance
