We currently have an opportunity for a Skilled Machinist to join our Production function working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), Ashton, Bristol.

DST is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, DST works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. We're based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

Responsibilities

To machine components to engineering drawings within tolerance and within planned hours.

Required Experience / Qualifications

  • Time served machinist with proven experience of manufacturing large components for the defence industry operating CNC Mills and Large Machining centres.
  • Excellent all round engineering skills.
  • Sound understanding of Heidenhain and Fanuc programming.
  • Flexibility to work different machine tools and shift patterns is essential.
  • Experience working safely within health and safety boundaries.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings.
  • Lifting and Slinging trained with associated experience.
  • Experience working to high quality standards.
  • Team player who can work well in a close knit team.

  • Be methodical with good attention to detail.
  • Be used to working to tight deadlines.
  • Take pride in their work.
  • Work well in a team.
  • Be safety conscious.

Location

Bristol is a vibrant city in south west England with a wide range of attractions, landmarks, events and shopping. It has excellent transport links and is only 1.5 hours from London by train.

This role is based at Ashton House, Bristol.

Security

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.

The role will be in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. This may require you to meet enhanced security and regular screening checks.
