Reporting to the Watch Manager (WM) the Crew Manager (CM) is to supervise and ensure the provision of Fire/Crash Rescue/First Aid cover for Airfield Operations under the guidelines of Defence Fire Rescue Management Organisation (DFRMO), Babcock and Fire Section orders and instructions. 
 
To respond to any form of emergency or incident involving Company or visiting aircraft, either actual or practice, and to carry out other tasks or duties as allocated by Line or Site Management as required to meet or exceed  customer expectations and LAFT2 contractual needs at all times.
 
Support the WM in all aspects of contract compliance and assume responsibility for the Fire Section performance outputs in the absence of the WM In the absence of the WM deputy as required on selected duties.
 
Liase to maintain Crash Categories and undertake airfield support tasks as detailed by the SATCO.
 
Provide safety support to all engineering activities as required.
 
Main Tasks
 
Reporting to the WM the CM is to supervise and lead in all activities relating to the provision of Airfield Fire/Crash cover.
Supervise the fire crew in responding to any incident as directed by ATC and safely operate as part of the team using the DFRMO Incident Command System as Crew Commander.
Operate all appropriate MOD and company equipment in order to safely deliver the task.
To comply with and ensure all personal training and Maintenance of Skills Training (MOST) requirements are undertaken within the given timeframe, both on and off-site, attending courses as required; some residential at other locations as required to gain and remain current in all the competencies required to deliver the task.
To ensure all FF are SQEP and current in all required competencies at all times.
To drive and operate fire vehicles, support vehicles and all  on-board related support equipment
To maintain and and ensure a level of personal fitness to comply with DFRMO personal fitness standards
To assist in the handling of casualties and administer First-aid.
Supervise and undertake maintenance inspections on all task related equipment and vehicles. Report unserviceability's and deficiencies, take actions appropriate to effect a positive outcome.
Maintain all logs and reporting systems and provide a lead in communications with all agencies.
Maintain personal training records as required.
To support the requirement to work at other locations in support of the LAFT Contract as required.
Champion a Total Safety Approach. Ensure full compliance at all times with relevant Health, Safety & Environment regulations & exercise a Duty of Care promoting a positive approach towards workplace health & safety.
Promote best practice, report bad practice and non-compliance and take preventative action to ensure continual improvement in the organisation.
Adhere to and champion company policies i.e. Diversity, Dignity and Respect at work.
Mentor new starters and assess trade competancies.
Carry out any other duties as required to support the contract.
 
Technical Experience and Qualifications
 
Essential
 
Must have current or recent experience in Military or Civil Fire Service
Must hold a DFRMO approved Crew Manager Incident Management Qualification
Must hold a DFRMO approved Operational Knowledge Theory Certificate
Must hold a DFRMO approved Health & Safety Qualification
Must hold CFBT Level 4 Incident Management Ceritficate
DFRMO approved Watch Trainer or Instuctional Techniques Qualification
DFRMO approved Effective Management Qualification
Must hold a full and current LGV C Class 2 Driving Licence
Qualified & experienced Emergency Response Driver (ERD) / five yearly Re-Cert
Qualified Breathing Apparatus Wearer Certificate / two yearly Re-Cert.
Qualified and valid  First Aid at Work cerificate
Hold a current DFRMO Operational Assessment Medical Certificate
Must be able to work to both Company and DFRMO Directives & Instructions
Ability to maintain and demonstrate practical and theoretical standards required
