Babcock Military Air, one of the world's leading providers of military flying training, is further expanding its operations, and is now building a team capable of pursuing emerging strategic opportunities. We are seeking to recruit a Health, Safety and Environment Manager (HSE), based in our Ottawa, ON office. This is a full time, fixed term contract with an initial period of 12 months and will report to the Solution Architect.
The principal tasks and responsibilities include:
- Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives. .
- Provides technical support to Program Managers on any safety related subjects.
- Carries out safety due diligence audits on Sub-contractors.
- Liaises between Clients on safety related issues.
- Provides safety-related input into new projects and modification programs.
- Preparation of Health and Safety documentation for new tenders.
- Provides Safety support and advice, including supervision on preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
- Develop and recommend improvements to all Quality Management Systems and develop and implement efficient global operations emergency response plans and ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations.
- Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security clearance
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in HSE, or a Minimum of 5 years of related experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is preferred.
- Experience working in manufacturing, construction, and / or facility maintenance and management is preferred.
