N7 Trainer (Navigator's Yeoman)

General Description of Job

Babcock operates outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Babcock instructors as well as training support (e.g. training planning, equipment support, routine maintenance and training design).

The main requirement of the role is to consistently deliver high quality training to Royal Navy Navigation Course students in accordance with formalised training documentation and in line with Company standards and contractual requirements. There is an enduring need to be ready to multi-skill and work flexibly across roles and tasking within the Warfare Department, as commensurate with brought in skills, and/or as augmented by internal training.

There is a requirement to be qualified in/be prepared to work towards and achieve DTTT Level 4 as part of this role.

  • The main place of work will be HMS Collingwood; however, some travel may be required between FOAP(T) delivery sites within the UK on a temporary basis

Main Tasks

  • Deliver Navigator's Yeoman Training and other training delivery tasks within the Navigation Training Unit, including instruction to all navigational courses on chart and navigation publication maintenance
  • Provide training support in the form of subject matter expertise to training design and quality assurance staff.
  • Maintain currency and SQEP in accordance with technical experience.
  • Maintain currency in line with technical experience and qualifications
  • Deliver instruction in electronic chart system management, particularly WECDIS and Admiralty Gateway and UKHO eNavigator.
  • Undertake wider contract delivery and support tasks as deemed appropriate by line management, including role player support to the Fleetwork trainer and CBSTi team,
  • Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times for all employees and trainees.

Technical Experience and Qualifications

Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an RN Navigator's Yeoman or equivalent
  • Knowledge of WECDIS/ECDIS systems and their correction procedures.
  • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or Defence Train the Trainer Course (or equivalent) with requirement to complete Level 4 qualification once in post.
  • DCTS Defence Train the Trainer Course (successfully completed) or equivalent Learning and Development/Teaching qualification.

Desirable
  • Trained in naval warfare procedures to AB (AWT) level

You will be supporting the delivery of professional training in the RN's principle training facility near Portsmouth.
