General Description of Job

Reporting to the Head of Finance - Reporting, undertake transactional processing of financial transactions, including accounts receivable and credit control, supporting all aspects of Business Unit (BU) Financial Accounting within SAP.

This will include:-

  • Financial accounting transactions for UKMA as required including Travel, IS costs, Credit Cards ensuring all balance sheet are complete and accurate.
  • Transactional Accounts Receivable management, cash posting, invoice raising, credit control etc
  • Support functional Overheads monthly reporting & forecasting for UKMA
  • Support intercompany reconciliations and resolve issues
  • Short term cash forecasting
  • Provide support and cover for the Reporting team as required
  • Business improvements - development and review - for all aspects of accounting, reporting and forecasting, including variance analysis
  • Support the Group finance team in Group reporting matters, including additional reporting requirements for half year and year end periods.
  • Supporting preparation of statutory accounts, tax packs and group submissions
  • Support during internal and external audit, including management of deliverables and other ad hoc audit requirements
  • Providing support to the Finance Director and Head of Finance - Reporting in all ad hoc analysis requests (including providing input into technical accounting papers as and when required).

Security Criteria to be achieved

  • MOD SC Security clearance.
  • Other security clearances as contracts demand.


Main Tasks

Key outputs/deliverables will be

  • Monthend financial transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and review with all exceptions highlighted and fully understood
  • Full understanding of SAP structure and implications of changes implemented
  • Timely invoicing and customer management
  • Timely cash management, short term cashflow production and Debtors management
  • Ensuring compliance with Group Finance policies and procedures (including initial review and challenge of internal audit questionnaires as completed by the BU's)
  • Input into monthly accounts and budgets for presentation to the Head of Reporting prior to review by the senior finance team
  • Adherence to all reporting timetables for monthly actuals, budget and forecast submissions
  • Ad-hoc BU reporting, including responding to Group on urgent technical queries arising in respect of BU submissions.
  • Ensuring the completeness of response to the external and internal auditors in respect of audit deliverables
  • Year end audit packs, tax packs and other Group reporting requirements.
  • Support other Business Unit reporting requirements including Balance sheet reconciliations, order book analysis, operating cashflow performance etc.
  • Identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of the services provided ensuring engagement with individuals who can validate and progress those opportunities.
    Main Accountabilities

  • Production/processing of accounting inputs to the management accounts, budgets and forecasts, including liaison with Business Unit finance stakeholders.
  • Production of ad-hoc UKMA reporting
  • Close liaison with external andinternal auditors to ensure timely fulfilment of deliverables requests during the half year and full year audit processes, as well as additional audit deliverables during the local statutory accounts process and presentations for the Business Unit Finance Director and subsequent submission to Group.
  • Support of year end audit packs, tax packs and other Group reporting requirements.


Technical Experience and Qualifications

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

Essential
  • Experience of working in an accounting environment
  • Part qualified or QBE professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ACMA)
  • Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory standards in respect to Financial Reporting.
    Desirable
  • Experience of audit and statutory accounts processes, gained through professional practice
  • Strong and up to date technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and UK GAAP

  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Outlook.
  • Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP)
