Based at Rosyth Business Park on the Firth of Forth at Rosyth, which is 3 miles south of Dunfermline. Rosyth is less than 15 miles from Edinburgh. Main Purpose

Major Tasks and Activities
Undertake survey of assets, record material state and recommend defect rectification.
- Provide design, draughting, trials and practical ship experience support for design office as requested.
- Produce drawings in support of maintenance and modification activities.
- To undertake 'lining out' activities in support of asset and site modifications.
- Development and training of Trainee Surveyors.
- Assist the Senior Surveyor in all preparation activities for HSAM's and represent the Survey
- Team at the HSAM.
- Answer requests and issues raised by production , COM and Naval Authority to best of ability and consult Senior Surveyor for advice and best practice.
- Assist Senior Surveyor as directed in the production of comprehensive business cases for
- consideration by Senior Management as and when opportunities to develop the department arise.
- Provide regular updates to Senior Surveyor on %complete stats and progress reports on tasks you are involved in.
- Support alignment activities and dimensional and laser scanning surveys as required.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met and adhered to. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring understanding and compliance with the relevant Risk Assessment, obtained the
necessary paperwork to carry out a task and utilising POWSAs and the visit log as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Academic:
- Completed an indentured apprenticeship relevant to the role, or equivalent experience.
- ONC in engineering related subject.
- Completed required health and safety training applicable to site and assignment.
- SHE Passport Gold
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Suitable experience in surveying marine structures.
- Working knowledge of the relevant standards, systems and Classification frameworks.
- Appreciate Non-Destructive Testing types and processes.
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Identify structural defects and understand the various levels of marine structure.
- Competent in formatting and writing survey reports.
- Make recommendations on the corrective actions to defects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and discuss the requirements of the Customer, ship managers, ship controllers and Professional
Officer.
