A strategic alliance has been formed between Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police in order to enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets. By working more closely together the forces will benefit from greater operational and organisational resilience, making us the fourth largest geographic police area in England and Wales. 

The main purpose of the role is to provide speed enforcement in order to support the delivery of the Road Safety Strategy and to actively work towards casualty reduction.

Main Responsibilities:

Conduct speed enforcement activity in accordance with site allocations.

Operate a range of speed enforcement equipment as trained and in compliance with manufacturers instructions, ACPO guidance and local practice.

Handle films and other evidential material in accordance with agreed secure procedures, ensuring integrity and continuity of evidence.

Maintain accurate records which satisfy evidential requirements.

Prepare reports and statements and carry out other tasks necessary for the processing of offences.

Attend court to give evidence and where necessary provide evidence regarding the equipment used and its operation at site.

Oversee, supervise and care for enforcement equipment, sites and vehicles to ensure integrity, serviceability and legal compliance. 

Carry out minor maintenance on equipment following internal procedures and working with specialist assistance when necessary.

Assist in the development, testing and training for new equipment and procedures.

Support and participate a range of local and national campaigns, initiatives or operations aimed at educating the general public and raising awareness of speed related issues.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required and to provide support and relief to other SRP and associated functions as required.

Experience/Skills:

A good general education to GCSE standard or equivalent.

A good working knowledge of the Highway Code.

An interest/knowledge of road safety issues/casualty reduction.

Experience in a role which demands accurate collection and interpretation of data.

Experience of operating and understanding technical equipment.

Experience of driving medium to large vehicles and motorcycles is desirable as passing mandatory driving course is an essential requirement for the role.

Proficient in navigating by road with good map reading ability and ability to locate sites from map references and site description.

Ability to communicate effectively in possible conflict situations.

An aptitude to learn the ability to judge speed and distance.

Computer literate and ability to understand new IT systems.

Holder of a full clean driving licence. Car and Motorcycle (cat B and A)
