Job Description
 
To undertake Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) as directed by your Line Manager (LM) primarily at Site but with occasional travel to other sites both within the UK and on occasions Oversees. 
 
Main Tasks
  • Undertake PAT as directed, primarily but not limited to, Data Centres and desk tops.
  • Accurately record test data using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Accurately attach appropriate labelling to tested equipment.
  • Be prepared to travel on occasion to other locations within the UK, including overnight stays.
  • Be prepared to work on occasions outside of Core Hours as required.
  • Rectify minor faults by undertaking simple repairs at the point of test within your capability.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, risk assessments and method statements associated with the role.
  • Ensure Company health, safety and environmental procedures are complied with at all times.  
Technical Experience and Qualifications                                                                                   
Essential                                                                                                                         
  • To possess or be prepared to attain City and Guilds 2377-22 Certification, for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
  • To possess or be prepared to attain a basic familiarity with the latest edition of the IET Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.
Desirable
  • Emergency first aid at work
  • Basic IT literacy sufficient to operate test equipment.
 
Skills Profile
  • To demonstrate a basic understanding of the requirements for electrical equipment safety testing.
  • To demonstrate a basic understanding of the hazards associated with working with electricity.
  • To demonstrate a methodical approach, following process and attention to detail.
  • To demonstrate a basic practical aptitude sufficient to undertake simple repairs.
  • To work as part of a team or alone.
  • To be well motivated.
