To ensure the successful delivery of fire service training to ensure that all trainees are able to perform to the required standards with a clear understanding of the safe methodology and practical procedures required within each aspect of the training provided.
 
Within the contract for the London Fire Brigade we provide a range of training courses. To ensure these are provided to the highest standard we expect our trainers to stay current to the latest techniques within their field and ensure that all courses are delivered within the agreed curriculum.
 
As a BA & RFT Trainer you will need to demonstrate that you have skills as listed below. We are also able to consider candidates that have an in-depth on the job understanding of these areas of the skills we train fire fighters that could be developed in to trainers.
 
Skills -
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of training processes and techniques, including needs analysis, planning, design, delivery and evaluation.
 
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of the relevant Fire Service Specialist Training subjects.
 
  • Understanding / experience of designing, planning and delivering a range of knowledge and practical skills training sessions to both small and large groups.
 
  • Understanding / Experience of assessing competence of individuals, recording results, providing feedback and writing action plans.
 
  • Understanding / Experience of managing students (including student welfare) on both residential and non-residential courses.
 
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience of using a range of computer based training equipment.
 
  • Understanding / Experience of using a range of training delivery and administrative software.
 
We are looking for candidates to have understanding of the Fire Service, including the funding of the Fire Service and government structures that oversee Fire Services in the UK.
 
We are looking for candidates to have a confident friendly manner and to be able to remain organised in a very busy fluid environment. Candidates will need to be clear communicators, able to problem solve and be able to clearly present information while coaching candidates to ensure success.
 
Job Role -
This role is key to the delivery of the training provided to the client. The main duties are listed below, but activities of the successful candidate will not be limited to these -
 
  • Face to face delivery of training to small and large groups of learners.  Utilising agreed training methods and materials to ensure that course objectives are met.
 
  • Assessing learner performance, recording results and providing feedback and action plans.
 
  • Managing physical training resources including venues, vehicles and equipment, ensuring their security, and suitability for use.  
  • Trainers are expected to ensure completion of course administration and reports, including: learner attendance/ non-attendance, assessment of performance, action plans, evaluation records, course summaries etc.  
  • Assisting with miscellaneous projects as required
 
Qualifications -
 
Qualifications that candidates may hold include -
  • Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a keen aptitude to acquire similar qualifications
 
Or a recognised assessor qualification -
  • Level 3 Awards/Certificate in Assessing and Assuring the Quality of Assessment (QCF)
  • A1 NVQ Award in Level 3 Assessing Learners
 
We are able to consider candidates with a  keen aptitude to acquire similar qualifications which could potentially be supported by Babcock.
