We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer working within Defence Systems Technology (DST), Filton, Bristol.

DST is a business unit within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, DST works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. We're based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas. The business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Quality Engineer working within the EMOC project you will be responsible for ensuring that the project is fully supported and realised through the implementation of a robust quality system.

Typical tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for overseeing the control of first level release of safety critical items.
  • Understand, interpret and ensure the full compliance of commercial contract requirements as stipulated by the customer.
  • Responsible for leading the project quality team in the quick and proficient resolution of customer companies plus liaising with and supporting suppliers from containment of quality issues through to preventative actions and carrying out process certification where necessary. This will include identifying trends and driving quality improvements within the supply chain. Frequent travel may be required.

Required Skills and Experience / Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

Successful candidates will:
  • Knowledge and experience of Quality Management Systems (IS09001, AQAP, AS91 00, etc.)
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • Engineering/Quality background in either the Aerospace or Defence industries.
  • In depth knowledge of supply chain principles.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practical problem solving tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously as part of a team.
  • Good analytical skills and proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Self-motivated, and can work within a group or individually.
  • Methodical with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills, used to working to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Location

Bristol is a vibrant city in South West England with a wide range of attractions, landmarks, events and shopping. It has excellent transport links and is only 1.5 hours from London by train.

Security

Successful candidates will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements and may be required to complete a medical assessment.
