Infrastructure Architect

Title: Infrastructure Technical Architect

Length: 3 months (Initially)

Locations: Hemel Hempstead

EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria Recruitment is looking for experienced Network Technical Architect to join one of their key Government project teams, based on client site, in Hemel Hempstead

Key Responsibilities

• Ownership of the technical design and project lifecycle for a major infrastructure enhancement or sub system.
• Assessing business requirements and presenting technical recommendations that are in line with both the customer's strategic architecture roadmap and industry best practice.
• You will be required to co-ordinate the activities of others and will be expected to manage the client's expectations and requirements.
• Ensuring business and application requirements can be supported by the proposed solution.
• Providing a relevant business case for changes to the existing technical Infrastructure.
• Production of detailed technical designs that document all proposed additions and/or changes to the existing technical architecture.
• Providing input to design and implementation plans, and governance to solution delivery teams.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for specific areas of technical infrastructure (e.g. Virtualisation).

Mandatory Skills & Experience

The individual would be expected to cover all of the following capabilities:

• Requirements analysis and definition.
• Infrastructure solution design, including identifying, documenting and assessing technical options.
• Specification of system components; sizing and costing solution

In addition, a strong background in several of the following technical areas at multiple levels (architectural, design, implementation):

• Secure Systems design
• Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud hosting experience (AWS, Azure, UKCloud)
• Desktop & Server OS (Windows Server/Desktop, Linux, Unix)
• Database (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• OS Support (Active Directory, Software/Package deployment)
• Virtualisation (VMWare, Citrix)
• Storage/SANs & Backup/Recovery (HP, NetApp, Symantec)
• Security (GAP, SSLF, Group Policy)
• High Availability/Business Continuity (Data Replication, Clustering, Load balancing, failover)
• Systems management and operational support tools (HPOM, SolarWinds, Hyperic)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
