JOB TITLE: Logistics Assistant
 
 
Reports to: Procurement and Supply Chain Manager, D&C
 
Roles Reporting to this role:

Location:  Gloucestershire Airport, Staverton
Division:  Aviation
 
Business Unit:  Design & Completions
 
Purpose of role: Due to the expansion of the business a stores person will be required to perform the day to day running tasks of the D&C stores function and work closely with engineering regarding kitting and parts queries.   
Person specification
Key Technical Skills / competencies:
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • A good working knowledge of the aviation industry and its regulations would be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of trade controls would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of IT software such as Word, Excel and Access.
  • Keen eye for attention to detail
  • Good communication skills at all levels
  • Good knowledge of customs procedures and dangerous goods
  • Efficient running of a controlled bonded stores
  • Understanding of tactical procurement
 
 
 
 
Company/Industry Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of company history and organisation would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the aviation industry and part 21G, 21J & 145
 
Qualifications:
  • Basic academic qualification
  • Qualifications that would be beneficial for the job role
  • IT literate
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Dangerous goods by road/air/rail/sea would be advantageous.
 
Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
  • Parts provisioning for prod. and installation project kits
  • Customer repairs and warranty handling  
  • Tactical procurement and supplier liaising
  • Day to day running of the logistics function and ensure the stores is presentable and compliant in accordance with the Babcock Work Instructions.
 
 
 
Additional Key Accountabilities:
  • Ensuring parts lists for project kits are up to date
  • Handling customer repair quotations
  • Supporting Paperwork i.e. batch certification
  • Tool control and tracking for calibration and servicing
  • Have a structured approach to prioritising tasks
  • Consider the impact of his/hers decision making
  • Be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Have a keen interest in learning new skills
  • Assist the P&SC Manager in ensuring the department is run effectively and efficiently to serve alternating workloads and priorities
  • Provide cover/out of hour cover in absences

  • Deliver in line with KPIs set
  • Efficient delivery of kits and parts to the hangar
  • Purchase of materials and equipment in a timely manner to meet project deadlines
  • Handling customer repairs and warranty within agreed timescales
