Role Summary/Purpose:
    In this role, you will lead an HR team and provide overall HR Leadership across the Aviation site in Nantgarw, Wales. As the site's HR leader you will be responsible for developing and delivering the strategic and operational HR imperatives needed to support the business and its senior leadership team. You will also provide coaching and leadership to the HR team.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Build the Human Resources team with a diverse and complimentary skillset
  • Provide day to day leadership and guidance to the HRM team
  • Act as a coach to the HR team in order to build employee resource management capabilities, reduce complexity and partner with their clients to maximize business performance
  • Ensure the HR team delivers HR training and support for functional processes such as PD@GE (performance development at GE), Salary Planning and New Employee Orientation
  • Support the HR team in the development and execution of the local employee relations strategy including Union Negotiations, Union Relations, Works Council liaison
  • Oversee change projects such as restructuring, changes to terms & conditions/benefits, and other large-scale employee-facing projects as needed
  • Partner with the HR team and local leadership to attract, select and retain key talent
  • Ensure that routine and complex employee relations issues are properly identified, reported, investigated & resolved to drive and promote a work environment that is in compliance with the Spirit and the Letter
  • Manage assignment and work distribution to ensure optimal application of talent resources
  • Coach, council and provide candid constructive feedback to members of the HR team
  • Create and maintain a positive, collaborative and open team environment
  • Serve as an additional point of contact on fundamental HR topics, questions and issues for all employees and managers
  • Ensure consistent direction, process and training for all site HR team members
  • Develop and implement customised training plans for employees based on specific needs
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to identify special projects and initiatives to support development of the team
  • Provide team members with an available and responsive escalation point for resolving sensitive or difficult ER topics or issues
  • Ensure overall success of the HR team through continuous feedback, analysis and adjustment
  • Provide dedicated Employee Human Resource Management support and guidance for a defined population of managers and employees with specific focus on: Employee advocacy/engagement, HR policy/procedure training, employee relations management, performance management, recruitment, compensation, and workplace investigations
  • Partner with HR Business Partners, HR Managers and Organization and Talent Development professionals to execute business-specific HR strategies
  • Assist with other HR special projects or initiatives as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in related area or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated experience of operating in a Senior HR leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Demonstrated experience of leading HR teams

Desired Characteristics:
  • In-depth understanding of HR concepts and principles gained through formal education and substantial work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in making strategic HR decisions, assessing leadership talent and effectively interfacing with high-level business and operations leaders
  • Prior experience in Union Relations/Employee Relations
  • Prior experience leading a team of professionals
  • Coaching and leadership assessment experience
  • Ability to energise and lead in complex, matrix, goal-driven organisations

  • Detailed-oriented with excellent organisational & documentation skills
  • Proponent of the segmented HR model, understands the benefits
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related fields
  • GE HRLP Graduate or graduate of a similar program
  • Ideally CIPD qualified
