Role Summary/Purpose:
    GE Caledonian at Prestwick is a world class aero engine overhaul repair facility, specialising in the refurbishment of advanced technology engines for some of the world's largest airlines. Over 550 highly trained personnel are employed at our purpose built facility adjacent to Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, each making a valuable contribution to the continued success of the business.
Essential Responsibilities:
    In order to maintain the high standards demanded by our customers, it is essential to train people for the engineering positions of the future. GE Caledonian, in partnership with Ayrshire College, deliver a Modern Apprenticeship programme designed to meet current industry standards. You will be working on the most modern aircraft jet engines and accessories, and will be provided with training commensurate with our position as world leaders in our industry. In addition to this you are expected to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award scheme and actively participate in our volunteering initiatives.The Modern Apprentice programme will consist of three years on the job training at our Prestwick site in conjunction with academic studies delivered by Ayrshire College. During this time you will be expected to achieve a minimum of SVQ Level 3, and an HNC in Engineering as well as developing core skills.
Qualifications/Requirements:
    To be considered for an Engineering Apprenticeship in the August 2019 intake, students must have gained or be working towards either:
  • SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations
  • Foundation Apprenticeship
