EXCLUSIVE OPPORTUNITY: Sopra Steria is currently recruiting for a Principal Category Manager to join a large project team working for a key Public sector customer on a 6 month contract to cover maternity.

PROJECT DETAILS: Be the principle on multiple programmes and develop collaborative relationship management regimes with NHS suppliers, ensuring maximum return on investment on commercial spend across the whole of the government sector. The client is looking to ensure a comprehensive data gathering process is in place and being performance managed from Trusts and suppliers.

The Principal Category Manager will be required to strategically analyse data in order to identify major areas for cost savings and process improvements, to produce procurement plans for submission to the senior management while also progressing constant performance management against programme targets to enable systematic reporting to the executive teams for reporting to Trust Finance Directors and Purchasing Committees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To develop specific strategic sourcing programmes/strategies for defined categories, across a number of NHS Trusts, being the principle on specific/allocated portfolio of sourcing categories, and contributing significantly to the delivery of allocated procurement projects within key markets.
  • Delivers cost and efficiency savings across a large number of Trusts, by analysing current spend information to develop procurement strategies.
  • To ensure contract compliance across the SBS procurement clients, pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.
  • To meet customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money, through compliance with category priorities and contracts, and by actively managing the market place through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management.
  • Principle activity in liaising with colleagues at all levels to ensure compliance in the use of agreements.
  • Ensures processes are in place so that effective, collaborative equipment purchases, trials, and long term plans to allow for standardisation using evidence base and innovative practice across the health economy of the region.
  • Identifies and works with other government agencies and social services in the integration of purchasing/product service standardisation for health & government related services e.g. home care, schools, prisons, defence etc.
  • Works closely with the Commissioning teams to ensure cohesive strategies in the delivery of products and services, standardisation of services etc - for example, products and services utilising NHS SBS agreements.

KEY SKILLS

  • Role is to provide expert additional knowledge and skills to all NHS SBS clients (be the thought leader in the field).
  • Make recommendations as to the products & services to purchase in conjunction with Health and Corporate User networks.
  • Benefits tracking/compliancy to report and deliver levels of savings within NHS Trusts with the category manager
