Role Summary/Purpose:
    Perform the daily operations and leadership of the operational business unit. Responsible for strategic vision of the business unit in line with OTD, Quality, Cost, People and Safety.
Essential Responsibilities:
    The Business Unit Leader is a critical support team member who must demonstrate proactive leadership by providing support to several teams in various stages of development within an organization. In this role you must demonstrate the ability to manage complex issues within and across your team(s), integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You must embrace and model the leadership behaviors of teaming. Other duties include but aren't limited to the following:
  • Identify and encourage learning opportunities (including cross-functional) in order to enhance individual and team performance
  • Provide ongoing support and counseling for employees, mentoring them in current positions and assisting with career development and training
  • Actively work with teams to understand metrics in areas of production, safety, & compliance to enhance individual and team skills
  • Empower teams to set goals/metrics, make decisions, and take accountability/ownership for such things as production, quality, continuous improvement, safety, housekeeping and overall policy adherence
  • Collaborate with team(s) and production planning to establish production schedules and monitor performance versus schedule
  • Collaborate with team on process/product improvement programs and provide process method excellence throughout the organization
  • Maintain positive employee relations by working with employees to resolve employee relations issues and concerns involving HR when needed
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company and departmental policies and practices
  • Develop and manage high level budgets and team headcount levels. Work with team to fulfill headcount plans by collaborating during the careful selection process
  • Ensure communication of key business/customer issues to team(s)
  • Facilitate the team(s) in decision-making and problem solving and provide effective communication across within and across team(s)
  • Allow teams to be responsible for team(s) budget. Continue to track sales, expense, inventory, and investment budgets at high level
  • Mentor and develop other coaches
  • Lead a business unit to achieve defined safety, quality, delivery, cost & cash targets
  • Drive continuous business improvement of business processes
  • Develop and execute long term strategic plans to meet customer & business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role has Form 4 responsibility
  • Ensure an open flow of communication exists between team(s) and support teams, including leadership team
  • Represent concerns of team(s) to support team member(s), as well as support team(s) concerns to team(s)
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge & experience
  • Significant experience in Operations Management
  • Prior experience with regulatory agencies, knowledge of requirements & deployment of a Quality Management System
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and motivate employees and/or teams through commitment to meeting customer and organization demands
