The Role:

Acting as commercial authority within the Supply Chain team, ensuring an effective subcontract strategy, and execution.

Essential Skills:

  • Extensive MoD contracting experience
  • Demonstrable extensive contract drafting experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of terms and conditions and contractual law
  • Experience of  negotiating, reviewing and managing software licences
  • An effective communicator, both written & oral and possess good interpersonal skills
  • Contract management and customer / supplier  relationship management experience
  • Able to offer flexible solutions to commercial challenges
  • Motivated for results
  • Good awareness of commercial and contract management processes and procedures with an ability to generate audit trails and present approvals to senior management
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen
  • Ability to draft clear and compelling commercial proposals, contract terms & conditions plus other commercial documentation
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and to discuss and resolve complex issues
  • Negotiation and strong influencing skills
  • Highly computer literate, particularly MS Office Outlook, Word & Excel
  • Able to identify and influence team members in managing commercial risk
  • Team working
  • Demonstrable drive for change
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Supervision / leadership experience
  • Self-motivated and flexible with good organisational skills


  • Knowledge and understanding of Single Source Regulation Office (SSRO)
  • Experience of export financial instruments such as Letter of Credit, Bonds and Guarantees
  • Evidence of strategic vision
  • Good understanding of Financial/MIS Systems
  • Clear understanding of Offset / Industrial Participation & commercial implications
  • Experience and evidence of responding to export opportunities and negotiation of associated contracts
