J ob Purpose

To maintain a safe, legally compliant and functional built environment by the effective delivery of Planned Maintenance, Reactive and remedial works. This role will also include
training to enable delivery of maintenance & inspection of helicopter underslung load equipment


The Direct delivery Engineer will be required to play a leading role in the delivery of all Hard FM services and associated contract outputs. This will include the identification and implementation of a suitable regime to achieve and maintain legal compliance on all building systems including -

* Alarm systems
* Water Systems
* Fixed Electrical systems
* Lighting Systems

The post holder will be required to produce reports & records of maintenance and keep computer aided systems updated.

The post holder will implement the business unit's safe system of work and manage the supply chain to ensure they achieve excellent safety standards.

Qualifications and Requirements



Candidate will need to demonstrate a good level of communication skills. Qualifications in English, Math and Science at A 'Level - CSE - GCSE or equivalent.
Electrical Installations C&G 236 or equivalent
Electrical Test and Inspection C&G 2394 or equivalent.
Full UK driving licence
IT literate (Microsoft Package Inc.; Outlook, Word and Excel)
Flexible with a "can-do anything" - "multi-skilling" attitude
Excellent communicator
Customer service focussed
Professional at all times
Smart appearance at all times no matter what task is being carried out.
Ability to work within a small team and have the willingness to multi task to support and offer a seamless service to all building occupants and visitors.
Excellent telephone manner & face to face client liaison skills.
Work in partnership with supply chain partners & sub-contractors
Ability to "think on your feet" and take action when required.
Clear understanding of the importance of H&S procedures


Candidate will need to demonstrate wide and varied experience with a multi discipline maintenance environment.


Water Hygiene management Qualification
Previous experience delivering facilities management services.
IOSH working safely or higher.
Machine operations to IPAF 3a and 3b.
Recognised First Aid qualification.
Appreciation of working at height, Step Ladder use and inspection.
Prior knowledge of Tabs FM Management system or CAFM experience.
Hold or working towards Membership of an associated Professional Institute. . NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Facilities Management (4 Day) Qualification.
Knowledge of Information Security and Data Protection act.
Recognised qualification in a building service discipline.
Experience in the application of a permitted SSoW in the management of High Risk Works.

Site is a Military Flying School. Secure site with 2 hangers and 1 training facility which includes aircraft simulators.
Hands-on delivery of M&E maintenance support of a range of commercial and hangar buildings at RAF Shawbury (Electrical Biased).
Undertake training to enable delivery of maintenance & inspection of helicopter underslung load equipment.
Carry out Legionella (L8) Testing / Monitoring in a range of commercial and hangar buildings.
Ensure statutory compliance and high levels of system reliability.
Host and manage the visiting supply chain and review method and risk assessments.
Administrate the Babcock safe system of work including the issue of permits to work.
Create/produce risk and method statements for in-house reactive and planned tasks.
Maintain building compliance records using the Babcock CAFM System (TABS).
Maintaining good and regular customer relations.
Producing monthly reports.
Understanding of COSHH.
No line management responsibility.
