Summary of Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Mission Critical Solutions the Business Sector Lead for Land Solutions will be accountable for the strategic direction, growth and performance of the Land Systems business including growth strategy development, strategy execution, financial performance, business capture, programme execution and customer satisfaction.
The Land Solutions Business encompasses Military Power products, UK defence training solutions and UK Communication Information systems (CIS).

Main Duties:
The Business Sector Lead is responsible for:

•The P&L for the Land Solutions Sector
•Building a strong sustainable land business in the UK with UK people
•Defining and gaining approval of the core land strategy with internal stakeholders in the UK and the US, and being accountable for delivering the strategy
•Building strong links with the customer community, industry partners and SME's
•Developing the strategic relationships required to inform the Sector strategy
•Building up other opportunities based around the existing products and capabilities in Raytheon UK and in Raytheon US
•The execution and delivery of product/technology development as part of PV and SEED investment
•Programme management and governance of all programmes within the sector from Business Capture through to Programme closure
•Approving programme and project plans and reviewing and approving all EACs taking into account programme scope, achievement to date, ETC, EV metrics, risk and opportunities
•Work in conjunction with other functional teams, ensure that the resources required to support the projects/campaigns are recruited, retained, properly motivated with realistic goals, have the correct skills and are assigned to the appropriate tasks and duties
•Provide input to the AOP and 5 Year planning cycles
•Presenting monthly status of product line performance to the Head of MCS including financial performance, programme execution, customer satisfaction, strategy update, business development together with risks and opportunities
•Supporting the career development of staff within the Business Sector
•Contribution to the overall Mission Critical Solutions Strategy
•Deputising for the Head of MCS
•All these duties will be carried out using Raytheon UK best practices, templates, standards, including CPA and IPDS.

Education and Experience

Essential:

•Proven track record in capture management and in growing new business
•Degree in engineering or business management and/or progressive experience in project or business management using business performance management and reporting methodologies
•Experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams
•Excellent communication - written and verbal at all levels within the organisation and with the customer
•Proactive team builder who can motivate and lead by example
•Innovative and creative problem solver
•Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
•Highly motivated self-starter who can work independently as well as in teams
•Experience of managing schedule and budgets such as new business investment, NB
Desirable:

•Experience of UK Army land based defence system requirements with an emphasis on Power, CIS or Defence training
•A successful track record in setting up and executing full lifecycle development programmes for the UK MoD
•Experience working with Governmental acquisition processes
•Relevant professional qualification or membership, such as APM
•Experience of finance, pricing and budgeting cycles
•Bid and Proposal management, winning new, repeat or follow on business through leading and supplying winning proposals
