Power Electronics Engineer
Our client based in Sheffield is looking for a Power Electronic Design engineer for a 6 month rolling contract.
The project is working on designs for an electric vehicle drives which operate from HVDC battery packs with a wide operating voltage range.
They currently have three battery product ranges.
- 250Vdc to 400Vdc
- 375Vdc to 600Vdc
- 500Vdc to 800Vdc
In each installation an isolated DCDC a converter is required to provide power at 28vdc to maintain the low voltage batteries on the vehicle. The power required at 28v varies from in different applications from 1.5kW to 4.5kW.
As such our client requires a Power Electronic Design Engineer to come on board to assisit in the design a DCDC converter that can be used in each of the voltage ranges and over the power ranges as defined above.
As the volume of product being manufactured is relatively low < 500 systems per year, a common product across the voltage range or a modular product that can be used to vary the output power would be attractive.
They are expecting to subcontract the manufacture of PCAs but would undertake the assembly and test of the converter in-house.
The following design targets have been listed in order of precedence.
Reliability / Durability
The target weight of a 4.5kW water cooled converter, suitably packaged for use in an on-road application is 10kg.
