The Applied Research Projects team is looking to recruit a Trials Scientist into the Design Physics Group. You will deliver research trials to further the understanding of systems, subsystems, components and materials subject to extreme dynamic conditions. These explosive trials are conducted using unique facilities and capabilities deploying a range of diagnostic techniques. The successful candidate would contribute to, and lead, multi-discipline teams to ensure trials are delivered safely and effectively to meet customer demands. They would lead on key design aspects of the trial, and the analysis and assessment of the resulting data as well as assisting with fielding aspects.

We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience and knowledge of working in the fields of explosive trials or experimental hydrodynamic research.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Experience of experimental design and fielding, working with explosive or hydrodynamic diagnostic technologies, data analysis and assessment
  • Able to collaborate with, or lead multi-discipline teams
  • Appreciation of Safety Management Systems and processes in highly regulated environments
  • Possess good communication skills, both written and oral
  • A degree or equivalent level of experience working in a relevant subject area such as physics, or engineering

Candidates must be UK nationals and willing to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.

Some UK and or overseas travel will be involved.
