Your role is to provide flexible and tailored quality, safety and engineering assurance support in to a diverse range of bids (when delegated) and projects. You will support the Business Assurance Manager (BAM) in Head Office (St Neots) as part of the Business Assurance (BA) function within Operations which covers Quality, Security, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Business Management. You will support continuous improvement of the integrated Business Management System (BMS) to meet business challenges.

You will be required to:

  • assess relevant (when delegated by the BAM) bids and tenders being pursued by the Company and liaise with Bid Managers, Project Managers and Delivery Leads to ensure that suitable controls are selected to meet the applicable compliance requirements such as engineering, safety and quality requirements of the customer;
  • assess (when delegated) relevant contracts received by the Company and liaise with Project Managers and Delivery Leads to ensure that applicable controls are being applied;
  • assess and agree quality, engineering and safety assurance related requirements of applicable contracts placed by the Company;
  • participate in specific internal governance reviews (Gate 2 and Final Bid Review when delegated, Contract Initiation Meetings (Chair), Contract Status Reviews, End of Project Reviews and other meetings (e.g. Lessons Learned));
  • review and advise on project, engineering and safety related management plans;
  • represent the customer by ensuring that all contract requirements are met e.g. through witnessing tests. This includes contributory approval of applicable product acceptance, factory acceptance tests and contract deliverables (milestones) as required;
  • ensure processes are adhered to for projects and business functions as required;
  • contribute to assessment of the effectiveness of the Business Management System through review and audit in accordance with ISO 9001 and TickITplus requirements to maintain best practice;
  • Conduct audits against projects and delivery areas at both MASS offices, and wider afield where required, maintaining audit reports and resulting findings and corrective actions within the audit management tool (e.g. Q-Pulse);
  • report deficiencies (i.e. failures, weaknesses and risks) using applicable tools and guide project managers on identifying and acting upon Lessons Learned ensuring that follow-up corrective action is taken;
  • provide support and mentoring on business processes to users of the Business Management System;
  • support the BAM to design, implement, monitor and capture best practice for business processes, their assurance, effectiveness and operation in a safe and secure environment. This includes guidance on the maintenance and improvement of the BMS processes and documentation in support to the process owners and relevant line functions. You will advise on enhancements and changes to, including streamlining and fitness-for-purpose review of, the BMS to maintain best practice and drive continual improvement and evolution.

You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and an ability to build relationships and influence others. You will be an honest, highly motivated self-starter with integrity, and a dedicated team member who is customer focused and detail orientated. You will be required to liaise with and audit Suppliers involved in systems and software development and provision of professional services. You will be expected to travel regularly on company business as part of your duties to effectively support the St Neots and Lincoln Offices as well as off-site teams.   You must be able to achieve UK NSV security clearances.   Mandatory Skill Requirements

  • Experience of Systems Engineering processes across the full lifecycle. Practical experience of Quality Assurance in a systems development role
  • Experience of software development processes, tools and various development lifecycle models. Practical experience of Quality Assurance in a software development environment
  • Project Management methodology
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Visio, Audit Management Tools e.g. Q-Pulse.
  • Knowledge of Defence, Information Security, Cyber Security, Law Enforcement markets
  • Conversant with requirements of:
    • ISO 9001
    • TickIT plus or TickIT
    • NATO AQAP Standards
    • MOD Defence Standards
  • Lead Auditor experience
  • Excellent communication Skills, both verbal and written, in the English language
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of product and general safety management systems and assurance
  • Familiarity with: Computer Aided System Engineering (CASE) tools and software development environments; Safety & Security Assurance; Programming Languages and verification/validation tools
  • Process Mapping, Risk assessment methodology, PRINCE2 or APM aligned, TickITplus Practitioner, Configuration Management methods and tools
  • Process Mapping Tools, Risk Management tools
  • Knowledge of Aerospace, Digital Forensics markets
  • Working with or to:
    • UK Export Licensing
    • US ITAR & EAR
    • CE Marking
    • Safety
    • ISO 27001:2013
    • ISO 20000 or ITIL
    • ISO 17025 for Digital Forensics
  • Hold or working for professional recognition/membership (e.g. CQI, IET, BCS etc.)

This role is for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday and based in Lincoln, with frequent travel to St Neots. The salary is £45,000 to £50,000 plus full company benefits.
