Ab Initio Lead Developer, Bracknell, London - Contract

My client is one of the largest private (Employee Owned) companies in the UK and has been in business for around 150 years. They work across multiple sectors and are currently looking to take on an Ab Initio Lead Developer to join their well-established company. The ideal candidate will be experienced with Ab Initio and have a good working knowledge with it.

Principal duties include:

  • Assist with technical input to development estimates
  • Review technical specifications for source-target data mappings to ensure they provide enough information for development to take place
  • Code and unit test Ab Initio interfaces in development environment
  • Manage Ab Initio code promotion through test and release environments and associated testing
  • Create and maintain technical documentation required for support and transition
  • Work with Operations to transition code into live using agreed processes and tools (Service Now, Change Management)
  • Provide 3rd line support as required
  • Ensure that all work is performed to the appropriate quality and timescales following agreed processes and methodologies
  • Support of ETL jobs in a non-Prod environment
  • Use of ExpressIT for Test Data Management and Data Profiling
  • Platform understanding to advise on infrastructure decisions
  • Thought leadership to maximise the potential of Ab Initio within
  • Contribute to relevant technical forums and discussions

Experience and Technical skills required:

  • Experienced with Ab Initio
  • Experience developing using GDE v3.0 minimum
  • Experience with ExpressIT, ConductIT, Control Centre, MetaData Hub, TRMC
  • Good knowledge of XML, XSD, WSDL
  • XMLSpy
  • Mainframe, DB2 UDB and Oracle
  • Experience in integrating with ESB via JMS queues/MQ
  • TWS/IWS scheduling
  • Ability to quickly adapt to the Waitrose development framework and standards
  • Experience of working in an Integration environment and working collaboratively with other teams
  • Experience of working in a governed environment
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Ability to organise own work and research
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Able to meet challenging deadlines, delivering to time and quality
  • Ability to establish and maintain the trust of colleagues and customers
