Altran is recruiting a Senior Programme Director to work at their prestigious client's site in Paris, France, with regular travel within Europe and possible further afield.

Your role

As a Senior Programme Director with Altran, you will be fundamental to our ability to deliver to our customers and clients. Our customer expectations are high, as such we are looking for adaptive driven people to deliver on time to required quality.


The Programme Director performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:

Plan the programme

  • Plan the delivery of the overall programme and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the programme
  • Develop an annual budget and operating plan to support the programme
  • Develop a programme evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the programme and to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop funding proposals for the programme to ensure the continuous delivery of services

Organize the programme

  • Ensure that programme activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization
  • Ensure that programme activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards
  • Develop forms and records to document programme activities
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the programme for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization

Staff the programme

  • In consultation with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select well-qualified programme staff
  • Implement the human resources policies, procedures and practices of the organization
  • Ensure that personnel files for the programme are properly maintained and kept confidential
  • Establish and implement a performance management process for all programme staff
  • Engage volunteers for appropriate programme activities using established volunteer management practice
  • Ensure that all programme staff receive an appropriate orientation to the organization and the programmes

Lead the programme

  • Ensure all staff members receive orientation and appropriate training in accordance with organizational standards
  • Supervise programme staff by providing direction, input and feedback
  • Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the programme and to solicit input to improve the programme
  • Liaise with other managers to ensure the effective and efficient programme delivery
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different programme activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency

Control the programme

  • Write reports on the programme for management and for funders
  • Communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements
  • Ensure that the programme operate within the approved budget
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted programme expenditures
  • Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to the Executive Director on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly)
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all financial records for the programme are up to date
  • Ensure financial reports and supporting documentation for funders are prepared as outlined in funding agreements
  • Provide required information to have invoices generated and submitted to funders according to the established timelines
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with programme activities and take appropriate action to control the risks
  • Monitor the programme activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the programme evaluation framework
  • Report evaluation findings to the Executive Director and recommend changes to enhance the programme, as appropriate

Your profile

You will possess creative problem-solving skills in a team environment and comfortable with communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Altran businesses. Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by Altran you will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to progress.

Qualification and Education:

  • University degree in a related subject
  • Knowledge of programme management

Skills and Requirements:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience in managing software and systems integration projects and programmes with budgets in excess of $50m
  • Full knowledge of a variety of project and programme management tools e.g. PRINCE2, PMI, MoR, MSP, ASM, CSM, etc
  • Significant experience in operating and interacting with senior stakeholders at VP and CxO level
  • Proven track record in setting up programmes with the right team, governance and business focused outcomes to deliver success
  • Has held P&L responsibilities, understands revenue (GAAP, SOX, etc) and has proven delivery of maintaining and improving margins
  • Experience in delivering cloud based platforms including sales and marketing preferred
  • Has a proven history of line management experience
  • Experienced in managing geographically disparate teams and delivering projects and programmes across multiple geographies
  • Experienced in managing both internals teams and partners, building those groups into cohesive aligned teams
  • Excellent attention to detail, resilience and drive in the face of adversity


  • Paris based, must be able to speak fluent French and English
  • 20% to 40% travel may be required within Europe and possible US/LACA
