Purpose of role: The Babcock BMW Academy Training Partnership provides a range of training and development programmes for all levels of the employees. This role will support the ongoing development of the BMW training curriculum, through the design and development of new and existing learning interventions.

This instructional Designer role will be responsible for the design and development of high quality, interactive learning interventions to meet client requirements, this will include the creation and authoring of:
  • Micro and Macro learning.
  • Face to face theory and practical learning and all associated courseware.
  • E-learning - to support a blended approach to learner journeys, encourage accessible / remote learning and learner engagement
Successful applicants will also be expected to contribute to a culture of respect that reflects the aims and values of Babcock International and the BMW standards

  • Formal Instructional design qualification or minimum 3 years' experience.
  • Proven experience of producing effective training materials, (e.g. CBT, trainer guides & lesson plans)
  • Proven experience in creating learning to support a range of learning styles utilising a range of modern learning methods and technologies
  • Knowledge of course development methods (e.g. ADDIE, Blooms Taxonomy).
  • Experience with e-learning development and authoring tools (would be advantageous).
  • Computer literate and proficient in use of MS Office applications.
  • Working as part of the team engaged on various projects.
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage own work load.
  • Working in a complex and diverse training environment Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and update course content and learning solutions.
  • Work with Subject Matter Experts to produce high quality and effective training materials to enhance the learning experience for all learning styles.
  • Create aims with measurable objectives that match the course content.
  • Create accurate storyboards and communicate relevant and timely information to the stakeholders
  • Revise and re-write existing course content
  • Create performance and assessment tools.
  • Review assessment documentation to ensure that it reflects current training objectives and update where necessary.
  • Achieve set performance targets and KPIs.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the company Security Ops policy.
  • Any other such tasks as may be allocated by the Project Manager.

  • Strategy - Ability to contribute to the development of plans to design training, design policy and targets.
  • Service delivery - Deliver required results to the expected standards and within agreed deadlines.
  • User focus - Demonstrate a focus on the operational requirements of the end user when designing training courses.
  • Relationship development - Demonstrate ability to build relationships over time with key customers and enhance Babcock image. Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain good working relationships within the Design Team.
  • Communication - Identify and utilise appropriate communication methods taking account: target audience, message to be conveyed and desired outcomes.
  • Self-Development - Set personal targets linked to department, team and individual objectives.
  • Dignity Fairness and Respect - Demonstrate a commitment to treat everyone fairly and without bias. Creating and maintaining a work environment free from harassment, victimisation and bullying and ensuring that all staff have a clear understanding of standards in performance and behaviour.
  • Time management - Ability to consistently submit timesheets within a stipulated time.
