BLS is currently looking to appoint an experienced Learning & Development Consultant with significant experience of working the nuclear, rail and/or energy sectors to work from a Milton Keynes, UK base with significant travel on assignments nationally & internationally.

The purpose of this role is delivery of professional advice and practical support rooted in deep experience of learning and development practice. Personal gravitas and high standards in communication, analytical and research skills are essential, coupled with an understanding of systematic approaches to the analysis, design, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of learning solutions.

As a BLS L&D Consultant you will join an elite team driving improvements in the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of learning services for both internal and external client organisations. Typically, you will work out and about in the business or at client premises, operating as a trusted advisor rather than simply as a designer, developer or deliverer of training. You will be required to apply the BLS consultancy business model to inform, educate and influence new and existing clients, conduct needs analysis and coach stakeholders to resolve human performance problems and organisational dilemmas. Additionally you will develop, embed, improve or adapt policies, processes and procedures to deliver organisational performance aligned with strategic objectives.

Top 4 Major Tasks and Activities:
  • Support the qualification of new consultancy project opportunities in line with strategy
  • Support solution development for major bids
  • Deliver L&D consultancy projects
  • Contribute to a central pool of L&D expertise for the business

Key Technical Skills:
  • Clear expertise in Learning & Development (L&D), including market trends, latest tools & techniques and development of solutions to meet client operational objectives
  • Ability to apply consultancy techniques to assess and benchmark L&D organisations, driving optimised recommendations and solutions
  • Understanding of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) and training quality management
  • Ability to apply the principles of the ADDIE cycle (or other training cycle models) to the execution of L&D projects
  • Experience of participation in successful consultancy projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to generate credibility with key customer stakeholders at all levels

Company/Industry Knowledge:
  • Strong proven experience within L&D environments
  • Experience of solution development in L&D projects
  • Experience of participation in successful consultancy projects
  • Specific experience of operating in the nuclear, rail and/or energy sectors.

Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant industry experience
