Security Clearance: Must already hold or be eligible for full UK SC clearance.

We have an exciting permanent opportunity to join a cyber security service provider in Gloucester who are currently looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer. You will become part of a growing solution delivery team and will be responsible for the technical design, delivery and implementation of the client's services to new and existing customers.

My client provides customers with an advanced SOC service - utilising industry leading threat intelligence and advanced SIEM and network IDS solutions powered by Context; delivering a managed security service designed from the ground up to detect all types of cyber threats facing a customer's business, from potential insider issues to generic malware attacks to sophisticated state-sponsored cyber espionage.

Key tasks and deliverables:
*You will be expected to work independently and proactively to solve complex problems within the environment
-This will include building relationships with support teams, customers and with the key technology vendors
*You will be exposed to ITIL and ISO27001 derived working practices therefore exposure and to components of these standards is important i.e. projects, change management and incident management.
*A degree of travel to customer sites and/or datacentres is expected therefore the candidate must have their own car.
Essential skills and experience:
*Knowledge of SIEM platforms and real-world engineering experience of SIEM solutions including on-boarding of log sources. (Preferably LogRythm)
*Excellent network fault troubleshooting experience
*Good understanding of network protocols including (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SSL) their function and use case
*Strong practical & theoretical network knowledge including next-gen devices (NGIPS, NGFW, Router, Multilayer Switch, etc.) and OSI 7 layer model
*Exposure to enterprise network topologies and ability to read and understand network topology diagrams
*Strong understanding of IT security concepts, technologies and IA practice
*Strong knowledge of IT security technology and tools including IDS/IPS platforms, host agent applications and their use cases
*Understanding of the role of a Security Operations Centre (SOC)
*Excellent communication, written and verbal skills. Ability to work with both customers and vendors to resolve problems under pressure
*Ability to work in a high pressure, fast paced environment with rapidly shifting priorities; ability to learn new technology and concepts quickly

Desirable skills and experience:
*Knowledge and experience of copper and fibre tap or packet broker technology
*Knowledge of system administration within both Linux and Windows environments
*Experience working within a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) or similar environment
*Commercial certifications with major security technology vendors
*Experience of Palo Alto Firewalls
*Security certifications or course training from major organisations including SANS, ISC, etc.
*Experience of datacentre working and exposure to architecture design
