Acorn Recruitment is working on behalf of a well-established international company whose focus is on the design and manufacture of advanced satellites and systems for telecommunications, earth observation, and navigation and science programmes

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician to join the team at the Farnborough facility on a 6 months contract.

Description of the Job:
A number of new roles are being created for Skilled Manufacturing Technicians/Fitters inside the Satellite Operations team. The scope of this role is to manufacture to time, cost and quality the new Satellite aircraft and associated Ground Support Equipment to fulfil the satellite Global Business case.

Main tasks and responsibilities
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
*Mechanical Assembly of satellite UAV's platforms
*Manufacture of detail components as required.
*Maintain build records
*Health and Safety process adherence and reporting
*Self-Certification of work completed
*Continuous Improvement of the production system
*Contribution to Problem Solving and corrective action delivery.
*Safe handling and protection of very fragile and flexible components
Skills

Essential:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
*Time served apprenticeship in mechanical or composites manufacture.
*Hands on multi-skilled practical mechanical engineer.
*Experience of "Hands on" close tolerance Assembly techniques and standards
*Demonstrated knowledge of Aerospace production quality standards
*Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and interpret requirements into finished products.
*Demonstrated Experience pro-actively solving technical problems.
*Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
*Quality conscious working method and organised approach to tasks.
*Enjoy using own initiative, working unsupervised and taking responsibility for own task package.
*Enjoy providing technical input and advice to design teams and peers on manufacturing progress, issue and ideas for improvement.
*Able to coach and mentor new team members.

Desirable:
*IT Skills appropriate for the role
*Hands on experience of CFRP production techniques / composite laminator
*Conducting and recording of Structural tests.
*Academic Qualifications in a mechanical or production engineering discipline
*Skilled Pattern and mould tool maker using various materials and methods.
*Skilled Composites Laminator specifically high quality low mass components.
*Able to obtain UK SC Clearance
