Responsible for the development and maintenance of optimal support solutions that deliver maximum operational capability at minimum through-life cost by:
* Development, costing & tailoring of support packages
* Assessing the Availability, Reliability & Maintainability of the system with Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis.
* Improve the design & supportability of systems by determining and optimising:
- Strategic obsolescence management.
- Preventive maintenance tasks which need to be performed, the periodicity of performing each, and the time it takes to perform.
- LRU policy, which dictates the corrective maintenance tasks and the time it takes to perform each.
- Determining the types of spares, and the quantity of each to suit the operating cycle of the system.
- Tools, consumables, and the test equipment, required to maintain the system.
* Own process of monitoring and analysing failures of each part of the system during its "in service" life and feedback experience into new projects/products
* Monitoring the reliability/availability of the system during its "in service" life.
* Providing support, on ILS matters, to bid teams.

Tech Pubs
The Team Lead will be responsible for the following with regards to ILS & Technical publication:
* Managing the team within a functional group, its resources, knowledge, skills, processes, procedures, tools, laboratories and facilities to align with the current and future needs of the business.
* Liaising with Customers, Engineering Managers, Capability Managers and other stakeholders.
* Assessment and planning of skills mix and staff flexibility within the team
* Staff development and contribution towards functional training plans
* Mentoring, performance management and discipline of the of the team
* Developing the team through best practice and engineering excellence
* Implementing engineering processes and supporting the development of best practice
* Promoting positive behaviours to the team

Duties/Tasks:
The Team Lead will undertake the following with regards to the allocated team:
* Business, project and department objectives
* Input into the strategic plans for the longer term development of the function
* Engineering aspects of bids and proposals relating to the functional area
* The management and execution of project work packages
* Forward load data through regular communication with Capabilities and Engineering Management
* Support to the Functional Lead in medium and long term resource planning and recruitment for the team.
* Support review and updates of the company's processes and procedures pertaining to the functional group
* The upgrade of existing engineering tools and identification of "owners"
* Identifying the need for new/additional tools and equipment
* Co-operation between engineering and other departments and external stakeholders
* Legislation and industry best practice activities
