Configuration Manager

Wiltshire | 9 Months+ | £400-450pd

Summary of the work

  • Implement the configuration management policy and standards
  • Ensure that staff comply with identification standards
  • Propose and agree interfaces with change, problem, network and release  management
  • Manage and populate the CMS and ensure regular housekeeping of content
  • Provide reports to management

Essential Skills

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualified
  • A recognised Project Management Qualification
  • Proven track record of working and delivering multiple IT front-end and back-end solutions, development and release management policies and procedures. Specifically focused on configuration management
  • Experience of developing and implementing organisation-wide IT related strategies
  • Experience of working with highly sensitive information. This is why Developed Vetting required
  • Demonstrable skills commensurate with fulfilling the role of lead specialist on Configuration, Change & Release Management
  • Ability to think logically and clearly. Be able to make rational decisions in Operational situations, with the ability to respond quickly and accurately to important and contentious organisational issues

Nice to Have Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of management responsibilities
  • Defence or Public Sector experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentational), showing tact, effective listening skills and present and defend points of view to a variety of audiences
  • The ability to work independently with little or no supervision to meet customer needs while providing an unbiased opinion
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects to closure from a technical point of view with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
  • Experience in providing engineering leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in large public or private sector organisations
  • Ability to handle a complex delivery landscape - multiple suppliers, multiple stakeholders
