DV Cleared System Administrator

9 Month contract | £450-500pd | Wiltshire

What you will work on

  • Identify and solve any problems that arise with computer networks and systems
  • Consult with clients to specify system requirements and design solutions
  • Budget for equipment and assembly costs
  • Maintain existing software and hardware and upgrade any that have become obsolete
  • Monitor computer networks and systems to identify how performance can be improved
  • Provide network administration and support
  • Monitor and manage security systems and logging
  • Liaise with external security functions
  • Manage , test and implement disaster recovery and resilience procedure
  • Conduct regular software and hardware audits as appropriate

Essential Skills

  • Hold a recognised computer or network qualification at NVQ Level 4 or above
  • 5+ Years’ experience in network installation and administration
  • 5+ years Windows desktop administration, including Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • 5+ years of Windows Server 2012 and domain administration experience
  • Knowledge of active directory and setting up GPO's
  • Basic knowledge of common protocols: TCP, UDP, UCMP
  • Knowledge of common Ethernet cabling
  • Demonstrate hands on ability to trouble shoot basic networking problems, including IP routing
  • Familiarity with VPNs
  • Familiarity with Backup and recovery software and procedures
  • Basic familiarity with managing iOS systems
  • Basic Linux command line familiarity

Nice to Have

  • Demonstrable experience of management responsibilities
  • Defence or Public Sector experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentational), showing tact, effective listening skills and present and defend points of view to a variety of audiences
  • The ability to work independently with little or no supervision to meet customer needs while providing an unbiased opinion
  • Self-disciplined, self-starter, professional who can successfully bring projects to closure from a technical point of view with minimum direction, guidance and oversight
  • Experience in providing engineering leadership of multi-disciplinary teams in large public or private sector organisations
  • Ability to handle a complex delivery landscape - multiple suppliers, multiple stakeholders
