The TSA Safety Case Manager ensures the safety of Nuclear Weapon (NW) activities at RNAD Coulport (as identified in the Nuclear Weapon Activities Safety Case) by managing all aspects of the production and maintenance of the TSA Facility Safety Case (FSC) and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure delivery of the TSA FSC and provide information and guidance on safety case issues to the operations management team
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation and regulations laid down in MOD JSP's, company and MOD procedures
  • Accountable for leading, coaching & developing a team at a local level to deliver team & personal objectives safely & securely to meet our operational plans. (First Level Leader)
  • Comply with and highlight non-compliance to all safety, environmental, fire, security standards, regulations and legislation
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, radiation safety and quality and be a great team player
  • Manage the production and approval of a full suite of Nuclear Weapon Site Safety Justification (NWSSJ) documentation for all current and new TSA activities / projects.
  • Ensure that the planned SC outputs for the TSA are delivered to time, cost and to schedule
  • Manage and maintain all relevant SC systems i.e. live files, SC justifications, plans, projects and actions
  • Manage the administration of the Weapon Support Hold Point Control System
  • Assist in the production/assessment of Authorisation Condition Management Documents
  • Represent the Alliance and AWE at meetings, committees, regulatory audits/forums as necessary
  • Progress emergent and outstanding issues affecting NW Authorisation or the TSA SC, completing investigations and reviews in a timely manner to meet production timelines
  • Manage the production of annual reviews for TSA activities to agreed programme
  • Provide technical support to the Clyde Triennial and Periodic Safety Review process
  • Being committed to continuous change and business improvements through the implementation of change processes such as Lean Six Sigma and Business Process Re-engineering
  • Follow all relevant AWE, ABL and MOD quality, performance and Compliance standards and procedures
  • Maintain and promote high personal standards in Environment, Safety, Health, Security and Quality
  • Responsible for undertaking other duties/tasks as reasonably required from time to time by line management in support of other teams across the Alliance and undertake any other duties deemed to be within the job holder's capability and grade

  • Work experience in the engineering, ministry of defence or nuclear industry.
  • Working knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
  • Proven track record of safety case assessment.
  • Working knowledge of typical company policies and standards on safety, quality and environment


  • Working knowledge of Clyde and company safety, quality, environmental and security policies.
  • Relevant experience in the field of safety assessment for radiological and explosive hazards.
  • Working knowledge of SWS Programme and working in a Nuclear or Weapons environment.
  • Knowledge of working on a restricted site or in a secure environment.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Site Authorisation Conditions and managements systems.

  • Willing and able to undertake any necessary qualifications required for the role
  • Willing and able to attend all relevant mandatory job, AWE and Clyde training and ensure compliance is maintained.
  • Working knowledge of the MOD regulations
  • Willing to travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays
  • Willing to work overtime as required to meet operational deadlines
