SQL System Administrator

LOCATION: Mons, Belgium

CLIENT: NATO

DURATION: 6 months with extensions

CONTRACT: Consultant

SALARY: Negotiable daily rate

WORK HOURS: Monday to Friday, normal working hours

CLEARANCE: NATO SECRET

TASKS:

  • Installing, configuring, upgrading, administrating, monitoring and maintaining of all physical databases deployed on all security domains
  • Synchronizing and replicating of databases
  • User data migrating
  • Gathering user requirements to design
  • Develop, maintain, and test databases
  • Ensuring data consistency/availability across databases
  • Working with a wide variety of databases
  • Developing and conducting database maintenance practices/planning to include availability, performance, resilience, sizing, capacity, housekeeping, backups/storage strategy
  • Monitoring usage, generating reports, identifying and managing database security issues
  • Developing and conducting database user and administrator training
  • Preparing and managing processes for reporting deficiencies and requesting changes to database components or system
  • Preparing and managing database system baseline documentation and procedures
  • Administrating, maintaining and troubleshooting of physical servers
  • Administrating virtual servers in VMware environment and using NetApp storage
  • Preparing, installing, configuring and administrating MS SQL Cluster technology, configuring MS Failover Clustering
  • Migrating SQL databases to new environment, clusters with SQL HA Group and upgraded to SQL Server 2012R2.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • SQL experience, mainly in installing, configuring, backup-ing, restoring and administrating DB's (SQL server 2008/2012/2014)
  • Experience with MS clustering as well as configuration like High Availability Group.
  • Basic knowledge and experience with administrating servers (windows 2008/2012), Active Directory as well as VM-ware, NetApp
  • Military background (NATO) is desirable
  • Basic FAS knowledge (related to data capture) is desirable
  • MCSA in SQL is desirable
