An exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Leader or Manager to join a world class recruiting service for the British Army.

About the role

As the Medical Team Leader you will manage the medical delivery team providing medical screening services of Army applicants as part of the National Recruiting Centre (NRC) service provision. You will be required to lead and develop a team of NRC Medical Administrator's to deliver a high standard of service and also to act as a point of escalation for time-to-time queries.

The nature of the work requires you to be aware of and adhere to all internal policies and procedures and be able to manage teams within these parameters. Previous experience managing, leading or supervising a team is essential.

Since March 2012, Capita has been working with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in a partnering arrangement with the armed forces to deliver recruitment services for the Army. The project represents a major investment in the transformation for military recruiting.

The contract covers the entire recruiting and selection process for both the Regular Army and the TA, and is helping transform the way the Army recruits its officers and soldiers.

What you will do:

  • Provide status reporting of team activities against planning NRC activity

  • Keep the NRC management team informed of task accomplishment, issues and status on a planned and ad hoc basis (as required)

  • Champion the RPP programme

  • Serve as a focal point to communicate and resolve interface and integration issues with other teams

  • Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by the team

  • Provide guidance to the team based on management direction

  • Recruiting, training and supervising junior staff and delegating work as required;

  • Producing and manipulating complex statistical data;

  • Coordinate with internal and external customers as necessary

  • Provide necessary business information

  • Help keep the team focused and on track

  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort

  • Motivate and inspire team members

  • Coach and help develop team members;

  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration

  • Encourage creativity, risk-taking, and constant improvement

  • Recognise and celebrate team and team member accomplishments and exceptional performance

Your experience will include:

  • Previous supervisory, Management or Team Leader experience
  • Experience in motivating, developing and appraising individuals to deliver a high standard of service and strong Leadership skills
  • Experience in the healthcare arena desirable
  • Ability to plan and organize self and team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Decisiveness and good judgement with the ability to make decisions at short notice or with little information
