As Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for delivering design, analysis and assessment projects in a multi-discipline environment. The team includes a wealth of experience and expertise in the design and substantiation of nuclear safety related equipment. Sharing of knowledge and learning of new skills is actively encouraged.

You will have strong experience in mechanical engineering in the construction industry, preferably nuclear, as you will be taking on a lead role in the development of solutions to project issues relating to mechanical engineering.

Your job role and responsibilities will include:

Mechanical discipline lead in large projects, and leading smaller projects focused on mechanical engineering
Technical quality and excellence of your work and the work of those working under you
Technical and professional guidance, support and development of more junior engineers and technicians
Communication with clients and other design team members
Project planning, delivery and financial performance
Business development activities including mechanical engineering aspects of proposals
Adherence and contribution to business and quality management systems operational and design safety, and developing good safety culture.

Qualifications / Experience

Accredited MEng degree or equivalent relevant experience
Chartered Engineer with a recognised UK Institution or be working towards chartered status
Experience of working on a nuclear licensed site in some capacity and a familiarity with the safety and quality standards that are expected
A sound understanding of the fundamentals of the design of mechanical engineering systems found in construction projects and to be familiar with the relevant UK and European standards and industry best practice
An understanding of the application of one or several computer based modelling techniques, for example, computational fluid dynamics
A working knowledge of the application of BIM in construction projects and the management of model and drawing production
Excellent verbal and written communication, and report writing skills
Ability to lead design aspects of projects including managing quality, budget, programme and resources
Proven ability to work as part of a team, liaising directly with clients and other design team members
