Sapienza is looking for an Accounts Payable for HR to work with NATO – Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. He/she will work under the direction of the Head of General Ledger and Travel.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that mission authorisations are in accordance with the Agency Travel Directive and system requirements
- Verify the estimated cost, codifications and commit the necessary funds
- Screen mission expenses, statements and supporting documents and calculate the travel expenses and per diem allowances which can be authorized for payment. Liaise with Agency staff where required
- Verify and enter ferry/train/rental car and airline invoices into the accounting system(s) and prepare them for payment. Liaise with the General Services where required
- Use the accounting system(s) to consult and manage data
- Exercise monitoring and control of all outstanding travel encumbrances
- Provide advice on travel issues
- Assist in preparation of financial reports
- Provide support to other Finance Directorate staff positions as required and be backup for the other “Accounts Payable” positions within Accounting Services Team
- Enter the Travel liquidations into the accounting system and prepare for payment
- Perform any other duties as may be required
Profile:
- Vocational degree/training in finance and accounting or equivalent practical experience gained in a function with duties and responsibilities similar to those stated above
- At least three years relevant practical experience in finance and administration
- Experience of accounting systems
- Experience with MS office applications and a good knowledge of MS Excel
- A thorough knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is essential
- Fluent in English
- Desirable Experience and Education:
- Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
- Experience of finance shared services
- Knowledge of NATO
- Knowledge of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS)
- Knowledge of French
- Prior experience in NATO Financial Regulations and Civilian Personnel Regulations
- Experience in travel/mission financial processes including liquidation
