To support the Supplier Management Team Leader in implementing the supplier management strategy to deliver a robust, high performing and sustainable supply chain

Key Accountabilities

  • Use market intelligence to risk assess category codes and identify areas of potential weakness in supplier availability
  • Use the Supplier Positioning tool to:
  • keep the supplier management strategy under review and identify any required changes in strategic ranking or relationship approach to the ASL Lead
  • develop appropriate strategies to manage 'high risk and complex suppliers to a preferred relationship position
  • Undertake data analysis e.g. category spend to identify and recommend improvement opportunities such as supplier reductions, use of catalogues, expanded use of framework arrangements, standardisation through use of Preferred Manufacturers etc
  • Implement improvements in supplier performance and relationships


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop effective supplier relationships, using appropriate tools e.g.SC21
  • Manage supplier performance (in conjunction with embedded Buyer and relevant stakeholders)
  • Use of market intelligence to maintain awareness of factors impacting AWE's supply chain and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Develop and maintain supplier maps
  • Support to effective management of risk mitigation activities for business critical goods, services or suppliers
  • Support the supplier reduction strategy to achieve a sustainable, fit-for-purpose supply chain
  • Stakeholder engagement to understand requirements, supplier performance and agree current and future strategy for supplier management
  • Share information with stakeholders via provision of training, presentations, reports, briefings
  • Support maintenance of AWE's approved suppliers' list, e.g issuing Supplier Competence Evaluations (SCEs) to suppliers, reviewing and evaluating suppliers' returns, making recommendations, tasking the supplier quality team and updating records.
  • Be an ambassador for supply chain and work with stakeholders to ensure that 'Procure 2 Pay' processes are understood and complied with
  • Ensure the understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Security, Safety and Health (ESSH) requirements

Knowledge

  • Supply Chain organisations and structures
  • Supplier relationship management principles
  • Supplier assessment principles and techniques
  • Standard market assessment techniques, such as PESTLE, SWOT, 5 Forces
  • Industry/market awareness gained from experience of working in a similar role in a similar organisation
  • Working knowledge of Oracle electronic purchasing systems, particularly supply base functionality


Experience

  • Supplier relationship management concepts
  • Supplier assessment e.g business factors, quality, technical capability, health & safety
  • Financial data analysis, e.g supplier accounts, acid test ratio etc
  • Proven track record of working with internal and external relationships stakeholders to deliver business improvements
  • Use of electronic purchasing systems e.g. Oracle
  • Appropriate supply chain experience, preferably in a regulated environment


Skills

  • Comfortable in challenging activity that does not reflect the P2P process or is not to the expected standard
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to deal with personnel at all levels
  • Negotiating and influencing
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines and implement pragmatic solutions

Further requirements

  • MCIPS desirable
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance for the role
  • Willing and able to undertake flexible working arrangements with occasional work away from home e.g. supplier visits
