Your experience in a Senior Procurement role within the aerospace industry will add considerable value to my client, who is a leading multi-national Defence systems provider which boasts some of most advanced facilities in their areas of expertise.

You will lead the business unit's Procurement function, defining and implementing robust purchasing and sourcing strategies to support the business' goals. This individual will lead a team of best in class procurement professionals to continuously improve the delivery of materials from suppliers on time to need, the quality of materials and services procured, and the cost of our products in a compliant procurement system. The role reports directly into the VP for Procurement & Supply Chain (Procurement Director).

The responsibilities for this role will include:

Leading a multi-functional supply chain Procurement team; setting clear objectives; managing performance; developing skills and competences
Foster a culture of compliance by operating within guidelines and procedures, leading by example, and focusing on risk assessment and elimination
Create a departmental strategy based on the company's vision
Provide strategic leadership to continually improve PPV, drive reductions in material cost as a percent of revenue and improve inventory turns by reducing days on hand inventory
Manage major sub contracts and project procurement activity
Drawing upon the expertise of the Legal, Contracts and Commercial team, ensure that we have robust supply chain contracts that facilitate effective performance and mitigate risk
Lead strategic sourcing plans for all major commodities, developing suppliers to world class performance
Lead supplier development team to strategically develop suppliers, improve quality performance, manage supplier rating system & report cards

To be suitable for this role your experience will include:

A wealth of procurement experience within an engineering/technology business (ideally Aerospace or Manufacturing)
Must have experience in an organisation where strategy is outsourcing focussed.
Strong blend of experience between 'hands on' operational procurement and strategic planning.
High Energy personality capable of engaging and driving all levels of the procurement function and supply base.
Team Leadership experience
Experience managing variety of stakeholders in external supply base Tier 1 suppliers down to SMEs.
APICS and/or NAPM affiliation desired; certification preferred (CPIM, CPM); Certification in Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred, but at least one (1) certification is required
