About the job

Our client is an industry leader in the mobile satellite communications market, offering an extensive range of global satcom solutions and services to keep people connected at all times, even when travelling by land, sea or air.

The Problem Manager will support the Service Director, working on the development and operation of the Service Problem Management function and the definition of the Problem Management methodology, policies, processes, operational templates and working practices aligned with the industry best practice framework (ITIL) and will promote Problem Management understanding across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities include:

Identifying trends and potential Problem sources (by reviewing Incident and Problem analysis)
Reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Problem control process
Monitoring the effectiveness of error control and making recommendations for improvements
Maintaining inventory of problems under analysis and their current progress and status
Following up issues and progressing with problem owners where necessary
Producing Problem Management reports and management information
Coordinating meetings to resolve problems
Preventing recurrence of issues by identifying root cause and driving fix
Working with internal technical teams and external stakeholders
Driving problems towards root cause identification and permanent fix

Essential Knowledge and Skills required:

Extensive Incident & Problem Management experience
Analytical skills
Good ITIL understanding
Good International Customer handling, Interpersonal and organisational skills
Work experience in overall ITIL framework

In addition to the above, the following would be ideal:

Skills and knowledge of Radio Access Technologies
Mobile Core and Radio architecture (3G/4G)
Mobile Network Service Control layer and Messaging (3G/4G)
Traffic Enforcement/Management Solutions
IP Networking and Security
Capability and willingness to learn and gain expertise in other areas of the mobile network by working with the area experts.
