Let’s be honest, if the Ministry of Defence is going to maintain a winning edge and keep our forces safe we are going to have to handle today’s most valuable commodity, data, very differently.

Availability of potentially battle wining data continues to increase rapidly and the number of networked devices is already estimated at twice the global population. Ministry of Defence sensors stream hundreds of Terabytes of data per hour; images, radar, speech, text, maps, vehicle data, medical data, open, hidden….. Out of this avalanche we must extract critical information and bring it together to gain the vital insights that keeps our Defence and Security one step ahead. No one can read it all; these days, making the links and protecting the UK at home and abroad depends on the right fusion of human and machine abilities. That’s where you come in.

You will get to know the problems the military face and develop the technological advantage to keep them effective and safe in a rapidly changing world. You will apply a range of information science and machine intelligence skills on real problems and real data to make a real difference.

You will work across the MOD, Government and with our partners in industry and academia in the UK and abroad.

We ask for a strong numerical qualification and related experience, as well as willingness to learn and innovate. As the role becomes more senior we will seek increasing levels of experience and qualification.

ased at Dstl Porton Down near Salisbury and/or embedded with operational users at RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire, the Intelligence Systems and Analytics (ISA) Group provides high impact S&T to MOD and other Government departments in the rapidly expanding fields of Data Analytics and Machine Intelligence. The ISA Group uses and develops the best tools and techniques to improve the processing and exploitation of information to support national security through improved intelligence products.
