Summary of role

We have recently opened our brand new Cyber Centre in Manchester. As our team continues to expand over the next 12 months we will be looking for a Senior/Lead Developer to join Raytheon UK in our brand new Cyber Innovation Team. We have a rapidly growing Software Development Team and we operate a Agile/Scrum methodology. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, developing solutions using the latest technologies.

Main duties of the position

Basic Objective: To design, develop and maintain mission critical applications and systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop product functionality, user interfaces and performance improvements
  • Act as lead engineer for large scale programmes
  • High competency in use of software pattern
  • Demonstrable experience as a software architect
  • Responsible for section/business area resource planning
  • Key contributor & independent reviewer at gate & design reviews
  • Lead scrum\team meetings
  • Responsible for personal development of team members


Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills

Experience working as in an Agile/SCRUM delivery model. Also skills in two or more of the following:

  • Java or C# application development
  • Oracle based development (Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, DBA skills)
  • Experience of Cloudera Hadoop including HDFS, Flume, Sqoop, Hive, Impala, Accumulo, Spark
  • Web application frameworks development in languages such as JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap

Desirable Skills

  • Application development using Java orientated middleware, for example, JEE, Spring, Hibernate, Apache Camel
  • Unstructured persistence layers, (e.g. ElasticSearch, MongoDB )
  • Experience of scripting languages; Perl, Python, ruby
  • Experience with high performance distributed systems
  • Experience in secure development techniques and tools that produce secure systems
  • Understanding of virtualization (e.g. VMWare and Hyper-V)

Raytheon Cyber Security
