About the role
Capita, FTSE 100 and UKs Leading Business Process Outucer have an opportunity for a Network Engineer to join us on our client site in Whitehaven.
You will be part of a small team supporting an established secure networking environment, configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. You will be required to maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades.
You will also be working in a fast-pace environment driving performance and reliability from the network on behalf of Capita's client. You will tackle challenging, unique situations every day and work with other functions of the support team as well as the client. You will be looked upon as a subject matter expert and advocate to fellow team members on making reliable technical decisions around supporting and deploying services and security that run some of our customer's business critical systems.
The successful candidate for this role will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience in integrating multi technology platforms and brands of product, solid communication skills and a desire to tackle complex issues. Please note that we are ideally looking for candidates who hold or are eligible for SC clearance for this position.

What you will do:
- Maintain the current network
- Meet with senior clients to determine their business requirements and design systems
- Execute the projects to deliver systems, on time and within budget
- Review clients' systems to keep them up-to-date with technological developments and their changing business requirements
- Maintain a high level of technical proficiency within the technical teams.
- Independently manage and develop the infrastructure within managed client sites
- Take the lead on troubleshooting complex issues and providing conclusive solutions to these issues.
Your experience will include:
An in depth of knowledge in the following technologies
- SC Cleared ideally or must be eligible to take
- CCNA certified Essential
- WAN - (MPLS/Leased Line/ADSL/ISDN) PSN an advantage
- LAN (Cisco Core and Edge networking product sets)
- Firewall - Checkpoint, Juniper and Cisco
- Routers and switches
- Networking essentials, Networking +, CCNA
- CAT5/6, Fibre
